Expert witness: Catherine Wilde
Since 2012 Catherine has been working with Richmond Physiotherapy Associates to provide expert physiotherapy opinion on causation and liability and quantum reports in musculoskeletal and orthopaedic physiotherapy and chronic pain. Approximately 60% of her work is for Claimant and 40% for defendant. She has completed the Medicolegal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (MLACP) Introductory and Advanced Level Report Writing courses and the extensive CUBS (Cardiff University Bond Solon) Certificate in Civil Law.
Catherine is a MedCo registered DME for soft tissue injury claims. She is on the Exective Committee of the MLACP, currently secretary, and is a member or the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy Professional Practice and Service Delivery Committee.
Catherine is a Chartered Physiotherapist with over 21 years of musculoskeletal experience. She trained in Sydney Australia, graduated in 1997, and completed her Masters in Manipulative Physiotherapy in 2004. She worked in Australia in both public and private systems, before moving to the UK in 2004. She worked in the NHS in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and chronic pain.
Since 2006 she has worked as an Extended Scope Physiotherapist, alongside pain specialists and orthopaedic surgeons both in the NHS and private settings. Her current role is with the AECC University College where she is employed as Lecturer/Advanced Practitioner and First Contact Physiotherapist. She is course lead for First Contact Practice.
For five years Catherine was visiting lecturer at London South Bank University, teaching on Masters level courses, specialising in spinal pain and clinical reasoning. She currently runs courses for physiotherapists on clinical reasoning and management of spinal pain.
Catherine is registered with the HCPC, is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP), the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists, PhysioFirst (private practitioners) and Extended Scope Physiotherapy Professional Network.
